"CIVIL RIGHTS" - Wei Gordon

Civil rights?
I cannot eat with the white man
Voting rights are not protected
I cannot drink with the white man
Love is restricted to within my race

Righteousness is nonexistent
I never thought a brother could be so cruel
God made us to love one another, yet
Here I am, living in your shadow
Treat me as your equal
See that the only difference between us is color

"Separate but Equal" - Sean McCann

Roses are red
Racism is evil
But yet it is called
"Separate but Equal"

"Rosa Parks" - Jen Emerson

Ready for a change
Our future changed because of her bravery
Stood up for what she believed in
Alabama is where she made the change

Peacefully protested on a bus
Arrested for not moving
Remembered that all races should live together peacefully
Kind of person who had to courage
She refused to move

"Dr. King" - Keegan Marquis
Martin Luther King,
voice like angels sing.
He wants to let freedom ring,
but is met with suffering.

The people march as canisters ping
Against the ground,
and all around
the people cry out
for the words of Dr. King
